About a year ago, seated in my favourite kafunda listening to some random mix from some dj i will not give credit to at this time, I birthed an idea that would grow in leaps and bounds further than I would ever think. But for the first time in my life, I was tired of having to listen to the same mix over and over again, that it became so boring. So, me and the kafunda boys hatched up a plan, to throw the greatest party there was. Trouble is, we wanted a new dj, a new mix, not the same old songs, but something fresh that would make the party. Well… I still think we have the idea of the party, we just can’t seem to figure out our schedules because we are all busy, robotic specialists and social media analysts and radio presenters and coffee growers and farmer, djs and a ka quick shout out to our guy that got healed from that wheel chair!! (We praise the Lord)

Anyway, jokes aside, I birthed the idea that I would start a mix called TweetaMix. With the help of a kafunda boy, I learnt the art of tagging, and off I went with my first mix. I tagged almost everyone that followed me that day, hoping that they would download the mix. Trouble is, 90% of Ugandans aren’t on these social music sites, so when the day was done I had trended on twitter and everyone was talking or asking about this mix and who birthed the great idea, but I only had 4 plays. Needless to say that I was so psyched, I didn’t notice the poor outcome on soundcloud until the next day. But who cared??? For the first time I had single handedly created a trend on Twitter and I thought I had succeeded in life. Well, we all know we have those feelings when something like that happens because we are local and we like it! (If you don’t get that last line follow this link https://soundcloud.com/qwanza-music/i-am-local-enheh)

One year and something months on, we still get #TweetaMix. Some days it is cold, some days it is hot off the press and other days…. But the best part of it is the testimonies that come from the mix (https://kirabobyabashaija.wordpress.com/2015/10/22/ugblogweek-day-4-music-snobs/). I honestly sometimes come up with a mix hoping it doesn’t sound as bad because I just don’t want to recycle songs, and people love it, and then other times when it makes me happy, the reaction is mixed. However, I would like to say thank you to everyone that play, likes, shares, downloads and even meets me on the street and calls me Mr TweetaMix. I couldn’t be more proud of this year.

But that doesn’t mean God is done with me yet. But until he says I move onto something greater, every Thursday will be the same between 10am and 12 noon. And if you dare try and follow what is happening, I am sure #TweetaMix will be on your timeline if you follow me…(evil laugh). Today you can be able to get the mix #TweetaMix #songsforthestorm at https://soundcloud.com/dj-twonjex/tweetamix-songsforthestorm

Once again, thank you, and if this isn’t enough, I promise to make a mix next week!!
